Stress & Your Body

We all know that stress can have bad side effects. However, what many people don’t realize is that it can cause inflammation, which can lead to diseases including diabetes, alzheimers, arthritis, and even cancer. Aging has also been linked to chronic stress and inflammation. The easiest way to avoid these conditions is to reduce your level of stress — but how do you know if you have a problem that could lead to a chronic condition?

First, you must consider some of the primary causes: chronic low grade food allergies/sensitivities or an imbalance of normal to abnormal bacteria in your gut (also known as dysbiosis) could be factors. There’s also a possibility that exposure to environmental toxicity from the air, water, foods, toxic metals, etc. could be causing an issue. You should also take a good look at your diet and lifestyle, such as junk foods, inactivity, and lack of sleep.

Some of these issues can be dealt with by making small changes. However, it is more difficult to address food allergies, dysbiosis, and toxicity. That’s where I come in — as a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, I can help you identify the issue and use natural therapy to eliminate the problem. If you find yourself suffering from symptoms including fatigue not relieved by sleep, bad digestion, insomnia, mood swings, lack of focus, sugar cravings and/or weight gain, give us a call.
